JUANCHENG

Specimen weight: 1,470 grams

Complete individual

The Juancheng H5 chondrite fell on February 15, 1997 at 11:23 pm in Shandong Province, China. A shower of over 1000 individuals (likely several thousand) fell near the Yellow River. Over 100 kilograms are known with the largest piece weighing 5 kilograms (I owned that mass for a time!). One piece penetrated a roof and landed in a cooking pot! Juancheng is a beautiful meteorite, one of my favorites.
