This beautiful historic
meteorite fell in Hessle, in Uppsala, Sweden on January 1, 1869.
A shower of stones fell, many landing on ice. Hessle is a
chondrite (H5).
This specimen is from the
British Museum of Natural History, specimen #: BM 42468 and can
be found listed in the Catalog of Meteorites.
I got this piece in a museum
exchange directly with the British Museum some years ago. I sold
it in 2005 then in 2010 got it back to grace my collection once
again. It will not likely leave now that I have it back.
